Honda declared compliant by the stewards in Hungary

The Honda Civic WTCC has been declared legal by the stewards following an overnight investigation, where the compliance of their flat floor in respect of the technical regulations, meaning yesterday’s qualifying results are now final, and no change to the race results can be expected in respect of the flat floor.

The stewards had issued a bulletin in the morning confirming they were still checking that the Honda Civics flat floor met up with the technical regulations, with the FIA confirming a decision may not be expected until after the race weekend.

However, the stewards have now deemed that the component is legal and that no further action will be taken. Ironically, Honda scored no points during the first race, with drivers Rob Huff and Tiago Monteiro finishing outside of the points following a strategic error in opting for slicks, while Norbert Michelisz experienced an engine related issue on the formation lap.

The FIA statement reads:

Following the Technical Delegate Report No.3 about the flat bottom of the cars number 5, 12, 18, and 55 of the Manufacturer Honda Motors, the Stewards investigated the matter and found that according to Appendix J Article 263 of the ISC they are in compliance with the current Regulations.
