Fredrik Ekblom to start from the back following an engine change

Polestar Cyan Racing’s Fredrik Ekblom will start from the back of the grid for the opening race following an engine change overnight on his Volvo S60.

The Swede’s car experienced an engine problem during Free Practice 1 on Thursday and was forced to return to the pits.

Following an assessment by the team, they have made the decision to change the engine which will put the 45-year-old at the back of the grid for the first race regardless of where he qualifies this afternoon.

His grid position will still count however for the main race.
