Fabian Yannantuoni take last gasp victory at Termas de Rio Hondo

Fabian Yannantuoni won the Super TC 2000 race at Termas de Rio Hondo for Team Peugeot Total Argentina, crossing the line three seconds ahead of Toyota driver Matías Milla.

But it was not until the very end of the race that the Peugeot driver claimed the lead.

Chevrolet’s Norberto Fontana held the lead to the last lap until he suffered from a front left puncture, dropping him from the lead down to seventh place.

Facundo Ardusso, who dominated the qualifying races earlier during the weekend, was right on the tail of Toyota Team Argentina driver Milla in the fight for second place. But the Renault driver had to settle for third, crossing the line less than one second behind Milla.

There was one safety car period in the first part of the race, caused by Muñoz Marchesi who spun after his pit stop on cold tyres.

Manuel Mallo became the best Chevrolet driver in fourth position after the puncture of manufacturer colleague Ardusso.

The Peugeot duo of Damian Fineschi and Javier Manta claimed positions five and six, while Norberto Fontana and Luciano Farroni rounded off the top eight.

Ardusso still heads the championship despite his puncture on 85 points with Emiliano Spataro and Agustin Canapino, finishing ninth and 13th in the races today respectively, sharing second place on 71 points.

Super TC 2000 continues at Obera on July 3rd.
