Ferenc Ficza unable to fly to Argentina, will miss the race

Zengő Motorsport driver Ferenc Ficza will miss this weekend’s round of the World Touring Car Championship in Argentina, after the 20-year-old had surgery for appendicitis earlier this week and is unable to fly out as a result under medical advice.

“I am lucky, it was a simple routine surgery but it still hurts a lot,” said Ficza. “The doctor asked me to have a walk near the hospital, but every movement is a struggle at the moment. It hurts me even more that I have to miss Termas, and hope Daniel (Nagy) and the team will have a good weekend in Argentina.”

The team will field just the one car for team-mate Daniel Nagy at the event, with Ficza’s car travelling on to Japan following this weekend.

“Feri said he had pain in his stomach earlier and he decided to see the doctor and it turned out that he needed a surgery,” said team principal Zoltan Zengő, adding: “We really hope he will get better soon.”
