Cooling and setup issues caused Volvo struggles in Argentina

Polestar Cyan Racing endured a very tough weekend so far at Termas de Río Hondo, Argentina. The two Volvo S60 TC1s qualified in 16th and 17th, with Thed Björk ahead of Robert Dahlgren. Engine cooling issues meant the team did not gather enough data to start working on the setup, which caused the performance problems shown in qualifying.

“It was an impossible task to catch up and create a suitable setup after missing both practice sessions,” said Björk. “Unfortunately we started in the wrong direction with the setup and there just is not enough time get around it. We are going keep pushing, as frustrating as this is, it is part of the learning process and will help us build a foundation for next year.”

As the chances of finishing in the top ten look slim, Dahlgren says the team will treat the races as test sessions in order to try different setup changes: “I am of course not happy with the result,” admitted the Swede. “We made some changes that unfortunately went the wrong way. We are going to treat both races tomorrow as test sessions to work further with the setup of the car.”

The highest-placed Volvo driver in the championship is Thed Björk, with 41 points to his name and a fourth place remains the Swedish manufacturer’s best result this season.
