Esteban Guerrieri not getting carried away with dominant FP1 performance

Esteban Guerrieri was out of reach for anyone in the first free practice session at Termas de Rio Hondo. The Campos Racing driver admits that having fresh tyres played a part in his performance, but he is happy with the car and is willing to work on details over the weekend.

“We obviously took advantage of new tyres,” admitted Guerrieri. “The good thing is I feel comfortable with the car. We could keep a good rhythm after three laps, which is a good sign. I am very impressed with the team they do everything with a lot of concentration.”

The Argentinian will surely have to work on starts, and is also testing some setup tweaks: “We’re going to go through every detail. We’re testing some things, the start is something very important we need to analyse. All the things we have put in process are working and I am very happy for that.”

Although he is happy for the result, Guerrieri keeps his feet firmly on the ground: “We couldn’t ask for more but we’re just going to be patient. It’s a long day. We can’t get too much excited for what has just happened but we will keep building up for the weekend.”
