Citroën nominate Tom Chilton to take part in MAC3 in Motegi

Citroën Racing have nominated Sébastien Loeb Racing’s Tom Chilton to take part in the MAC3 post-qualifying time trial event on Saturday, with the Briton joining factory drivers Yvan Muller and José María López for the fourth time in a row.

Chilton’s SLR team-mate Mehdi Bennani took part in the first five events of the season, but it’s Chilton who has been drafted into the three-car manufacturer challenge since Russia in order to aid the French marque’s manufacturer title bid, with ten points awarded for the MAC3 victory.

Gregoire Demoustier is therefore the only Citroën driver to not have taken part in the new-for-2016 time trial this season.

The Honda team’s line-up will be their three full-time drivers, Norbert Michelisz, Tiago Monteiro and Rob Huff, though the team is running a fourth car this weekend entered for former Super GT driver Ryo Michigami.

Lada, with just three cars, will compete with Gabriele Tarquini, Nicky Catsburg and Hugo Valente, with Chevrolet unable to take part as they don’t compete in the manufacturers’ championship and Volvo ruled out as they only have two cars.

MAC3 is scheduled for 16:00 local time on Saturday.
