Agustín Canapino celebrates Santa Fe pole and two-year contract with Chevrolet
Agustín Canapino has taken pole position for both of the Super TC 2000 races at the Santa Fe double-header, which includes a night race on Saturday. The pole-sitter and his two closest rivals in Race 1, Renault Sport’s Facundo Ardusso and Emiliano Spataro shared their thoughts with TouringCarTimes.
“It’s always challenging to be back here after my accident in 2011, but I enjoy it,2 said Canapino. “Especially after such a tight battle with Ardusso and Spataro, who looked really strong.
“We’ll have to see our pace (in the race), there are some guys behind us who also will try to do well. It’s a relief to be confirmed for two more seasons, we have a lot of work to do tonight.”
Facundo Ardusso (Renault Sport – second):
“Undoubtedly, being from this province, I feel really proud of racing here. I hope to battle for both races, we’ll be serious challengers. We did our best and qualified at our top level, there was nothing left. We’ll work a lot with the engineers in these two hours before the race to try to get the best pace during both races.”
Emiliano Spataro (Renault Sport – third):
“We did really well, I’m starting both races in third place. I would love to battle for the win, but we must be careful on track. My engineers did an amazing job, we managed to four flying-laps after slowing down between each one. I’m very confident ahead of the race.”
