Citroën take unchallenged win in the final MAC3 of the season with all SLR line-up

Citroën won the final MAC3 of the season, after their two manufacturer rivals were unable to field cars in the final time trial event of the season after both Honda and Lada lost a car due to damage in qualifying.

Lada driver Hugo Valente’s car suffered suspension failure in Qualifying 2 and the team were unable to repair the car in time for the post-qualifying event, while Honda driver Norbert Michelisz had clipped a tyre stack in sector three in the top five shootout, also ruling Honda out of the challenge.

Citroën had nominated all three of their privateer cars of Mehdi Bennani, Tom Chilton and Grégoire Demoustier ahead of the weekend for the final MAC3 of the season, with Yvan Muller and José María López sitting it out for the first time this year. Citroën were still required to record a time in order to take the ten points towards the manufacturers’ championship, so the three cars took to the track and set a two-lap combined time of 4:13.756 on their own.

Citroën have now tied for the number of MAC3 wins with Honda on six each (after both tied to the same thousandth of a second in Slovakia), with Lada having not won a single heat.
