Aurélien Panis excluded from Morocco qualifying for being underweight
Zengõ Motorsport driver and WTCC newcomer Aurélien Panis has been excluded from qualifying in Morocco, after his Honda Civic WTCC was found to be underweight.
The French driver had missed all of Free Practice 1 due to a radiator issue, and the team worked hard to replace this ahead of the second practice, which allowed the son of former Formula 1 driver Olivier to turn his first ever laps in a World Touring Car.
The car was however found to be underweight following scrutineering checks and Panis has had his times deleted.
Panis had qualified in last position, but was set to benefit from the exclusions of Honda’s Ryo Michigami and RC Motorsport Lada driver Yann Ehrlacher.
