Rob Huff relatively satisfied with second row after overnight dramas
Münnich Motorsport’s Rob Huff qualified in fourth position, the best-placed of the four privateer Citroën drivers for the main race in Morocco on Sunday, and though he rues the lost testing time from Free Practice 1, he’s happy with the position given the circumstances.
Huff missed all of Free Practice 1 as a set of FIA 8853-2016 compliant seat belts were shipped over from the UK overnight, with the FIA only allowing him on track for the start of the second session just after the belts were fitted to his Citroën C-Elysée.
“We definitely missed a few things with our set-up, but we missed them because we were messing around with seat belts for 24 hours, so if we’d done the first practice session we’d have seen this in the data,” explained Huff.
“The pace is definitely there, I don’t think we’d have got pole as the Honda is very strong here, but I think we certainly could have been on the front row,” he added.
“We know this is the worst track for us. We’re confident for Monza and Budapest, as were quick when we tested there. I think we’d have had a better hold of the car if it hadn’t been for the distraction of the last 24 hours.”
