Salerno to make Super TC 2000 debut replacing Diego Azar at Escudería FE
Alessandro Salerno will take the wheel of the privateer Peugeot 408 of team Escudería FE this weekend at Mendoza, making his Super TC 2000 debut, in replacement of Diego Azar who has decided to leave the team after just two rounds.
Azar decided to leave Escudería FE following a difficult weekend in Potrero de los Funes where he stormed out after two practice sessions.
Salerno, 25 years old, is the son of team director Rubén Salerno and has been racing in the TC2000 junior series since 2014. The team stated that he is expected to drive only in Mendoza, as they will look for another driver to complete the season in the privateer Peugeot 408.
TC2000 junior series reigning champion Antonino García, who couldn’t find a seat for the beginning of the season, is now the strongest candidate to drive the team’s third car from round four, to be held at Rosario on May 21st.
