Fabián Yannantuoni thrilled and surprised with pace following double win

Fabián Yannantuoni won both the qualifying and feature races in San Martín, praising the pace of the Team Peugeot Total Argentina-prepared Peugeot 408.

“I’m very thankful to the team, they gave me a car which allowed me to have an amazing pace, which really surprised me, but it’s great. I’ve won both qualifying and feature races, so everything has been perfect,” said Yannantuoni to TouringCarTimes.

Yannantuoni won by over 17 seconds ahead of his team-mate Mariano Werner, who now leads the drivers’ championship. Former F1 engineer Enrique Scalabroni has joined the team as Concept Designer, a key player for this season according to Yannantouni.

“He plays an important role in this, he has brought his experience in, and gave us a big boost. He has raised a lot our potential, the other teams won’t have it easy to catch us,” said Yannantouni.

The Peugeot driver also commented on the new Joker Lap format, a feature he is not keen of, although appreciating the appeal for the spectators.

“It’s a nice idea, it gives something special to the races and keep them open until the end. We don’t enjoy racing this format too much, but people does, so it’s fine”.
