Agustín Canapino still concerned with Chevrolet’s pace

YPF Chevrolet driver Agustín Canapino made it to the podium of Super TC 2000 feature race in San Martín after struggling for pace in the first stages of the 2017 season.

“We can take lots of positive things from this weekend, we’re having a difficult start of the season, but we’ve worked hard to be in the pace. As we did in Potrero de los Funes, we made it to the pódium, and I’m still surprised,” said the reigning champion to TouringCarTimes.

The Argentinian managed to secure the final podium spot behind Team Peugeot Total Argentina’s Fabián Yannantuoni and Mariano Werner, a result even sweeter after the struggles so far this year.

“When things don’t go well and it’s hard to get good results, it feels double satisfaction and it keeps hopes. All the teams work hard, technical rules are a little different, and new seasons and things get different. Super TC2000 is terribly competitive nowadays, so far in 2017 Peugeots and Damián Fineschi are the ones to beat. I hope we can be back at the top next round in Rosario,” said Canapino.

When asked about joker lap, he stated: “I always say the same: I prefer pure racing. At least it gave some interest, otherwise it would have been a very linear race. If Super TC 2000 wants to keep it, we will support it.”
