Agustín Canapino wins second feature race in Rosario

Chevrolet YPF’s Agustín Canapino won the second Super TC 2000 feature race of the weekend in Rosario, beating Saturday’s winner Facundo Ardusso of Renault Sport. Matías Rossi of Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina completed the podium.

The start of the race saw Agustín Canapino of Chevrolet YPF alongside Facundo Ardusso of Renault Sport on the front row. Canapino claimed the start while Ignacio Julián of Renault Sport and Manuel Mallo of Chevrolet YPF dropped back after two separate incidents, with Julián retiring later.

Esteban Guerrieri of Citroen Total Racing retired on lap 15 after damage following contact with Fiat Petronas driver Carlos Javier Merlo.

Canapino had opened up a second and half lead over Ardusso, who was challenged by Rossi for second place on lap 21.

The safety car came out on lap 25 due to Martín Moggia’s retirement with his factory entered Citroën C4 Lounge. At the restart, Canapino kept the lead of the race ahead of Ardusso, with Rossi in third, positions kept over the finishing line.

Fineschi finished in fourth in his privateer Ford Focus, followed by Pernía’s Renault Fluence. Bruno Etman finished a solid sixth in front of Chapur. Matías Milla of Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina, Luis José Di Palma and Germán Sirvent, both from Renault Sport, rounded off the top ten.

Further down the field, Carlos Javier Merlo picked his first points of the season after finishing in 12th in his factory entered Fiat Linea of team Fiat Petronas.

Super TC 2000 will hold its fifth round of the season on June 11th at Termas de Río Hondo.
