Maxime Martin punished for collision with fellow BMW of Tom Blomqvist

Despite having escaped punishment after stopping his BMW M4 DTM on the track during today’s race, Maxime Martin has been penalised for the collision with fellow BMW driver Tom Blomqvist.

The Briton was tagged by Mercedes’ Maro Engel at Turn 1 on the first lap, spinning at the following corner.

As Blomqvist tried to recover, Martin ran into the BMW’s side, in what the stewards deemed was an avoidable collision, which caused damage that would eventually see both out of the race.

The Belgian has been given a three-place drop for tomorrow’s grid, which will be set after qualifying at 12:00 CET.
