Rob Huff happy with front row in Portugal after near-perfect lap

Münnich Motorsport’s Rob Huff was happy with his qualifying result, securing a front row spot for the main race on Sunday at Vila Real, replicating the factory Citroën drivers’ pace from last year,

The 2012 champion said second was the best he could manage given the compensation weight difference between Citroën and Honda, qualifying seven-tenths of a second behind Honda’s Norbert Michelisz.

“I’m really happy with that,” said Huff to TouringCarTimes.

“Every time we put new tyres on, we got more and more out of the car, and I feel really happy that I nailed the lap. OK, there’s always one or two tenths you can find, but not seven tenths.

“The pressure in Q3 got to me here last year and I made a mistake when we should have had pole, and it didn’t this year. However, there’s no way we could find seven-tenths; most of it is from the 30kg of weight we’re carrying over the Honda, as there are huge uphill sections and some big braking zones.

”But to be on the front row gives me a really good opportunity to score some points tomorrow.”
