Agustín Canapino sets pole position for Race 2 in Santa Fe

YPF Chevrolet’s Agustín Canapino will start on pole in the second Argentinian Super TC 2000 race of the double-header at the Santa Fe street circuit.

The Chevrolet driver outqualified Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina’s Matías Rossi, and yesterday’s race winner Facundo Ardusso in the Renault Fluence.

Unlike on Saturday, Sunday morning was overcast, and there’s a threat of rain throughout the day.

The first group in Q1 featured the last drivers of the field. Bruno Etman of Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina topped the session, followed by Franco Riva in his privateer Ford Focus run by Riva Racing.

In the second group in Q1, Etman was beaten by factory drivers Luis José Di Palma from Renault Sport, and Peugeot’s Fabián Yannantuoni. Renault driver Ignacio Julián was third, before the last group of top drivers out.

In the last part of Q1, Peugeot’s Mariano Werner was on top, ahead of Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina’s Matías Rossi, all of them beating Saturday’s pole position time.

Q2, is split into two groups, the first features the drivers who finished 11th to 20th of Q1, and in this session it was YPF Chevrolet driver Bernardo Llaver who was fastest, followed by Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina’s Matías Milla.

Saturday’s winner Facundo Ardusso was fastest in Q2, and moved on to Q3, where he was joined by Milla, Rossi, Llaver, Canapino, Yannantuoni, Di Palma, and Renault Sport’s Emiliano Spataro and Leonel Pernía.

In Q3, Canapino did two flying laps and set the pole position time, ahead of Rossi, Ardusso, Renault driver Leonel Pernía and Chevrolet’s Bernardo Llaver, with Peugeot’s Yannantuoni in sixth.

Completing the top ten were Renault’s Luis José di Palma, Toyota’s Matias Milla, Peugeot’s Mariano Werner and the Renault of Emiliano Spataro.
