Matías Rossi says he can still learn from José María López

Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina’s Matías Rossi gave his thoughts on having three-time WTCC champion José María López as co-driver in his factory Toyota Corolla for the Super TC 2000 Buenos Aires 200 kilometres this weekend.

“Apart from his career highlights, it’s a pleasure to share my car with ‘Pechito’. He’s really talented and despite having being rivals for many years, I can still learn a few things from him,” said Rossi, to TouringCarTimes.com.

Rossi, TC2000 champion in 2006, 2007 and 2011, and Super TC2000 champion in 2013, added about their setup work on the car: “It’s hard to balance speed and pace in the fast parts of the track, so we try to improve all the time. Tomorrow, a good balance in Salotto long turn and a high top speed will be key, despite you have to focus a bit in the slow corners. If it rains, it will be benefit us.”

The team is yet to decide the strategy for the race tomorrow, other than that they are aiming to win.

“We must stay focused and go for the win tomorrow. We haven’t decided yet, but it’s likely that José María starts the race. It always gave us luck,” said Rossi.
