Rain delay hits Super TC 2000 Buenos Aires 200 kilometres

After a heavy storm over Buenos Aires in the early hours of Sunday the circuit was flooded, forcing the organisers to delay the 200 km Super TC 2000 race.

The main issue was located at the Salotto turn, which connects two long straights that identify Buenos Aires layout no.15. Since the support series raced on another layout of the circuit the problem was apparently not alerted early enough.

Rumours suggested the possibility to switch to the shorter layout no. 9 for Super TC 2000, however that was quickly discarded, since it would have ruled out points eligibility according to FIA sporting rules.

The team directors held a meeting with the race stewards and series’ directors and re-scheduled a 10-minute warm up to check the track and help to clear the water.

Afterwards, the cars will return to pits to be re-fueled, and will be sent out again to form the grid and start the race, originally scheduled for 11:50 am AR time.
