Privateers Rosso and Peluso stunned after sensational podium finish

Privateer drivers Juan Angel Rosso and Sebastián Peluso of team Escudería Fela scored a sensational podium finish in the Super TC 2000 race in Buenos Aires from 25th position on the grid.

“If they told me I was going to overtake 23 cars on track, finish in second and set the fastest lap, I would have laughed a lot,” said Rosso to TouringCarTimes.com.

Team manager Victor Rosso, father of Juan Angel Rosso, made the call for the duo to start on wet tyres, a crucial choice for the Ford drivers.

“I was thinking about a good way to drive through the wet parts of the track on slicks when he told us to start on wets. I changed my mind and thought it was better to take good care of the wets in the dry section and do much better than the rest in the fast parts, which had lots of water,” said Juan Angel Rosso.

37-year-old co-driver Peluso was emotional after stepping onto the podium for the first time, breaking into tears during the press conference.

“This is a huge reward after lots of years. I could afford my first karting when I was 24. It was already massive for me to reach TC2000 series in 2016, and now take part in this event. A podium is something impossible to explain,” said Peluso.

“I’m really feeling like in a dream, it’s the happiest moment of my career. I don’t want to wake up. As I said earlier, it was already massive to take part in this race.”
