Santiago Urrutia wants more after claiming podium in touring car debut

Santiago Urrutia made an impressive touring car debut this weekend in the Super TC 2000 200km of Buenos Aires by claiming a podium finish for YPF Chevrolet as co-driver with Bernardo Llaver.

“I did enjoy a lot the experience, it was a nice event, despite the weather conditions,” said Urrutia to TouringCarTimes.com.

The race turned out to be frantic with four safety car sessions and mixed conditions with rain hitting the track mid-race, leaving the tyre choice a lottery. The Chevrolet duo still finished third.

”We started on slicks in a wet track, but I knew I had to stay on track. Some of my opponents made mistakes and later the rain came again when we switched to wet tyres,” said Urrutia.

Poised for a possible IndyCar drive in 2018, Urrutia only got into a touring car for the first time in his life last weekend during a test but was left with a test for more.

“Super TC2000 is a nice car to drive, I can say I had fun. I would like to take part again in this event,” said Urrutia.
