Nicky Catsburg: ”It’s all about assisting Thed in the season finale”

Polestar Cyan Racing driver Nicky Catsburg had a tough WTCC weekend in Macau that more or less has put him out of this year’s title fight.

”I had too many issues this weekend and I am more or less out of the title fight, so it is all about assisting Thed in the season finale and together claim the manufacturers’ title,” said Catsburg.

The Dutchman crashed in qualifying and started further back on the grid, only scoring points in the first race with ninth and dropped down the order in the second race after making contact with his team-mate Néstor Girolami.

”I pushed a bit too hard during qualifying and hit the wall unfortunately. There is no room for error at this track. I am not happy with the result for me personally this weekend, but I am happy to see Thed keeping the championship lead,” said Catsburg.

Catsburg has dropped from third to fourth in the championship, trailing team-mate and championship leader Thed Björk by 44 points with 60 points left to fight for in the season finale in Qatar on December 1st.
