Rob Huff aims to be back in WTCC, BTCC and CTCC in 2018

Rob Huff is looking to repeat his multi-touring car programme in 2018, after racing across the globe this year in the WTCC, the TCR International Series, the BTCC and the CTCC.

With the WTCC and TCR International Series set to merge into one single international championship in 2018, the 37-year-old believes that will provide him with a number of options as both his teams of this year, Münnich Motorsport and Team WRT, are likely to compete in the new championship.

A one-off outing for Power Maxed Racing earlier in the year was also a highly successful return for Huff in the British Touring Car Championship after a 13-year absence, delivering the team its best result of the season with second-place in Race 3 at Silverstone, while in China, Huff looked set to cause an upset, leading the championship for SAIC Volkswagen after competing in just three events from seven, before stepping back ahead of the final race.

“Things are looking good for next year,” said Huff to TouringCarTimes.

“The new TCR, WTCC series should be a great championship especially for drivers like me who have experience in both. I have a great relationship with René (Münnich) and the Münnich Motorsport team, as well as Vincent (Vosse) and Leopard Racing WRT from TCR, so I think we’ll definitely be able to find a good programme for next year.

“I’d also like to do the BTCC again, though that will likely depend on the calendars, so we’ll have to see what we can do there. I’m also likely to be racing in China in much the same way as this year, both as an advisor and a driver.

“As well as that, I’m going to be doing some more historic racing. With gap in the calendars means I can definitely do the Classic Le Mans, and Richard Meins has told me he’s got me Paul Newman’s 89 Spice (Spice SE89P) to race in that next year, and I’ll do the Goodwood Revival and Members’ Meeting as well.”
