Stefano Comini says no agreement in place with Comtoyou for 2018 WTCR

Double TCR International Series champion Stefano Comini has distanced himself from speculation linking him to a return to Comtoyou Racing, the team with which he raced last season.

The Swiss says he hasn’t been in talks with the Belgian team recently, although he would not rule out racing with them as he enjoyed his time with the outfit.

“I have seen a list,” said Comini to TouringCarTimes. “We’ve spent a year together and, despite some difficulties, I have lots of respect for the team, they have done a mega job.”

The Swiss does not rule out working with the team this year, but says nothing is in place at the moment.

“I would be happy to talk to them and try to find an agreement,” he continued. “I know I am more mature than ever and the team could see that already for at least the second half of last season. I am honoured to be associated with them again, but at the present time there is no contact with them. It would surely be interesting to get in talks, I know they would give me great tools to fight for the ultimate glory.”

After two consecutive TCR International Series titles, Comini came third last year at the wheel of his Comtoyou Audi RS 3 LMS.
