James Thompson excluded from Germany Race 2 due to team error

James Thompson has been excluded from the second race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife after an error by his Münnich Motorsport team between Saturday’s two races.

Thompson had finished the race in his Honda Civic Type R FK8 TCR in 19th position, some way off the pace as by his own admission the Briton was struggling to adapt to the Nürburgring Nordschleife after never having raced at the track before in his career.

The team lifted his car before the repair time started, which resulted in an immediate disqualification from the race, and also a 40-second penalty added to his time for Race 3 as a result.

Thompson finished Race 3 in 16th, but will now be relegated to 19th as a result of the penalty.
