Bernardo Llaver wins feature race in Potrero de los Funes

Chevrolet YPF’s Bernardo Llaver won the feature race of Super TC 2000 weekend in Potrero de los Funes, San Luis. He was joined on the podium by Martín Moggia of Renault Sport and Julián Santero of Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina.

Bernardo Llaver started from pole position ahead of Moggia. Llaver held onto the lead at the start while Santero held third ahead of José Manuel Urcera of Citroën Total Racing. The Citroën driver was not long after overtaken for fourth by privateer Sportteam driver Matías Mill.

Agustín Canapino managed to recover quickly from 15th on the grid in his factory Chevrolet Cruze up to ninth after just two laps. Canapino started an entertaining battle with Facundo Ardusso of Renault Sport for eighth position, with the two making contact in the fast sweeping ‘S’ bend. The contact between them seemed to damage the Chevrolet’s steering, but Canapino managed to get past his Renault rival not long after.

Series rookie Federico Iribarne of Citroën Total Racing retired on lap three due to a technical issue and forced the safety car out on track.

On lap seven Canapino made a clean move on the outside coming into the second chicane to overtake Fineschi for sixth as Matías Rossi, who started from last due to an engine failure in qualifying, managed to get into the top ten.

Canapino continued his charge through the field and overtook Urcera for fifth and swiftly caught Milla in fourth position as Rossi, the other star of the race, overtook Urcera for sixth place.

Milla in fourth position played a key role for Rossi to catch Canapino, who battled for fifth behind the privateer Renault Fluence.

Rossi managed to overtake Canapino for firth as the field was starting the last lap.

Llaver took the victory five seconds ahead of Moggia and six seconds ahead of Santero, who completed the podium just like in the Saturday qualifying race. Milla finished in fourth, ahead of Rossi and Canapino. Urcera and Fineschi finished behind. Ardusso was ninth as Facundo Chapur of Citroën Total Racing completed the top ten.
