Five drivers under investigation for blocking Gordon Shedden

Five drivers are under investigation for an incident in the first qualifying session at the Slovakiaring for allegedly blocking Team WRT driver Gordon Shedden on his fast lap.

Münnich Motorsport’s Esteban Guerrieri, Boutsen Ginion’s Tom Coronel, Team Mulsanne’s Fabrizio Giovanardi, Sébastien Loeb Racing’s Mehdi Bennani and Campos Racing’s Pepe Oriola were all called to the steward after Shedden was forced to navigate through their cars while on a hot lap, while they were all saving their tyres for their next run.

The drivers had all had to back off due to Denis Dupont’s Comtoyou Racing Audi having slowed into Turn 1, which saw the yellow flag waved, with Shedden the first driver to pass when the yellow flag was withdrawn, coming across the cars later on the lap.

The investigation is set to continue on until tomorrow morning, with Race 1 scheduled for 12:00 CEST.
