Slovakia qualifying remains provisional as Hyundais investigated

The results of the first qualifying session of the Slovakiaring weekend remain provisional following a technical investigation into all four of the Hyundai i30 N TCR cars entered at the race weekend.

The Hyundais qualified first, second and third, with Gabriele Tarquini leading Norbert Michelisz and Yvan Muller, while Thed Björk qualified seventh, knowing that due to an engine change penalty he will start from the back of the grid for Saturday’s Race 1 in any case.

As of 11pm local time, all four Hyundais of both the BRC Racing Team and YMR are still in parc ferme, five hours after qualifying concluded, and are subject to an FIA investigation, with the outcome not expected until tomorrow morning.

The results of qualifying therefore remain provisional until the outcome of the investigation, as well as the sporting investigation into a number of drivers deemed to have been blocking in qualifying.
