Slovakia results will be provisional until FIA Court of Appeal

The results from Race 2 and tomorrow’s Race 3 will remain provisional subject to an appeal being heard, lodged by the Boutsen Ginion Racing team and Münnich Motorsport in respect of their cars exclusion from Saturday’s qualifying session.

The Münnich entry of Esteban Guerrieri, and the two Boutsen Ginion Hondas of Tom Coronel and Benjamin Lessennes were found to have exceeded the FIA stated boost limit in qualifying, in a mirror image of the offence made by three of the Hyundai entries yesterday, which saw Yvan Muller, Thed Björk and Norbert Michelisz excluded and sent to the back of the grid for Race 1.

With qualifying and Race 2 held so close together, the start of Race 2 was delayed so preparation work could be completed on the Hondas, which were released late from parc ferme following the report of the technical delegate.

The two teams then confirmed their decision to appeal the exclusion, meaning their grid spots were reinstated, with Benjamin Lessennes going on to take the best result for the manufacturer, finishing fifth in his Honda Civic TCR.

The results of today’s second race, and tomorrow’s race, will therefore be subject to the outcome of the FIA International Court of Appeal hearing which will be heard at a later date.
