Championship leader Gabriele Tarquini hit with grid penalty for China

BRC Racing Team’s Gabriele Tarquini has been given a five-place grid drop for the next round of the World Touring Car Cup at Ningbo in China.

The Italian was found guilty of causing the Turn 3 incident on lap one of Race 3 at the Slovakiaring when he pushed the Boutsen Ginion Racing Honda Civic TCR of Benjamin Lessennes into a spin, who collected both the Cupra of John Filippi and the Honda of Esteban Guerrieri.

Tarquini said he felt a push from behind as he went into the corner, but the stewards saw differently and handed him a five-place grid drop, which he’ll have to serve in Race 1 at the next race at the Ningbo International Speedpark in China on September 29th.
