Kevin Ceccon to complete season with Team Mulsanne

Kevin Ceccon will contest the remainder of the FIA World Touring Car Cup season after agreeing to an extended deal with Team Mulsanne.

The former single-seater raced joined the Alfa Romeo squad for the last round of the year in Slovakia following the departure of Gianni Morbidelli, and picked up a best finish of sixth spot from the his maiden weekend in the series.

On the back of that performance, the 24-year-old has now agreed to remain with the team for the events still to come in China, Japan and Macau that will conclude the season.

“I am very happy to continue in the FIA WTCR 2018,” he said. “The call I got was not an easy challenge for me, but the fact that Team Mulsanne and Romeo Ferraris have opted to reconfirm me for the remaining rounds of the championship means that they were pleased with my work, and I hope to reward their trust on the track.”

Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris operations manager, was delighted to keep Ceccon onboard.

“We were very impressed by Kevin’s performance at the Slovakiaring,” she said. “To hire him represented some kind of risk, which we decided to take, and we were rewarded by a points finish that added to the best result signed by Fabrizio so far this year”.
