Benjamin Lessennes keen to return for the 2019 WTCR

Benjamin Lessennes has been replaced by Ma Qing Hua at Boutsen Ginion Racing ahead of the coming Asian races and the Belgian driver is keen to return for the 2019 season.

“I will obviously be open to any proposal by the end of the year,” said Lessennes.

Lessennes will be with the team at Ningbo where Tiago Monteiro, who acts as his manager, will assist him in making new contacts in the WTCR paddock.

“If the opportunity arises to compete in a race, TCR, GT or prototype, I will grasp it with both hands to gain even more experience. Believe me, I am still very hungry for competition!” said Lessennes.

The 18-year-old stood in for the injured Monteiro at Boutsen Ginion Racing and is currently placed 14th in the championship with fourth in the third race at the Nürburgring as his best result.

“First of all, I would like to thank Honda Motorsport and Boutsen Ginion Racing for having given me such an opportunity. Trusting a young 18-year-old driver to replace Tiago Monteiro early in the season, was quite a gamble! Initially, I only had to drive in one or two events … and I started in six, which is much more than I had ever hoped,” said Lessennes.
