Mariano Werner leads Peugeot 1-2 in San Nicolás qualifying race

Mariano Werner won the Super TC 2000 qualifying race on the brand new circuit of San Nicolás, with his team-mate Néstor Girolami making it a Team Peugeot Total Argentina 1-2. Leonel Pernía completed the podium for Renault Sport.

Werner claimed the lead from pole position ahead of Girolami, while Chevrolet driver Tomás Gagliardi Genné held on to third place. Not long after that, Renault driver Pernía managed to get past Genné for third.

Facundo Ardusso, who had pole but was dropped to fifth due to a grid penalty, battled for four laps with Gagliardi Genné before he managed to claim fourth.

Werner claimed an easy win ahead of his team-mate Girolami while Pernía was close behind in third, followed by Ardusso and the Chevrolet YPF trio of Canapino, Gagliardi Genné and Bernardo Llaver.

Emiliano Spataro of Renault Sport, Matías Rossi of Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina and José Manuel Urcera of Citroën Total Racing rounded off the top ten.

Ardusso has claimed the lead of the standings on 177 points, with Canapino just two points behind and Pernía third on 166 points.

The feature race of the San Nicolás weekend is scheduled for 12:05 local time/17:05 on Sunday.
