Rob Huff says rivals have caught up – BoP needs readdressing

Rob Huff has said the pace of the Audi RS 3 LMS compared to Volkswagen shows WRT and Comtoyou Racing have found a way of working with their cars, and now the difference between Audi and Volkswagen needs addressing.

Throughout the 2017 TCR International Series season, the Audi was more heavily compensated compared to the other Volkswagen Group cars, but this year both the Audi and the Golf GTI TCR run at the same ride height, power levels and Balance of Performance (BoP) weights after the revision by the TCR technical team at the start of the year.

“If you look at Audi, we were 40kg lighter than Audi last year and 20mm lower, and we struggled to beat them,” said Huff to TouringCarTimes.

“Right now, we’re 20kg heavier, and the same ride height, and I think that proves we’ve been genuinely been punching above our weight so far.

“As we get to the end of the year as people are learning about their cars, it’s starting to hurt us.”
