Facundo Ardusso moves closer to second straight title

Reigning Super TC 2000 champion Facundo Ardusso of Renault Sport returned to the top of standings after winning the Buenos Aires 200 kilometre race with co-driver Mariano Altuna, placing himself in a strong position for the title race with just one round left of the 2018 season.

“We must race in the same way we did in this race, we managed to do a great comeback in Buenos Aires. I came here in an uncomfortable position and now we could turn it around,” said Ardusso to TouringCarTimes.

“It was a must to stay calm in disadvantage, now we must keep focused. We sorted out many issues after rounds six, seven and eight and now we’re in good form. Mariano Altuna did a great job after keeping José María López behind until he pitted to hand the car over to me.”

Ardusso came to the Buenos Aires race 17 points behind Chevrolet YPF’s Agustín Canapino and leaves the weekend 23 points ahead.

The Chevrolet rival had a mathematical chance to clinch the title today but scored zero points as co-driver Franco Vivian retired due to an exhaust fire.

The Super TC 2000 season finale takes place on November 25th at Córdoba.
