Esteban Guerrieri calls for STC2000 format change

WTCR regular Esteban Guerrieri joined independent Honda team RAM Racing for the Super TC 2000 race in Buenos Aires last weekend and is calling for a format change to the Argentinian series.

“Super TC2000 has a standardized engine, which reduces costs, but it should introduce a ‘push to pass’ system and pit stop strategies to improve the races. I would like to see longer races, re-fueling and tyre changes. Also adding downforce to the front could help,” said Guerrieri to TouringCarTimes.

Guerrieri says his main focus is on the WTCR for 2019 but that he is open for a Super TC 2000 programme as long as it could be combined with Honda’s efforts.

“2019 with Honda is looking good, we’re expecting to continue together. I’d consider running a joint programme in STC2000 and Europe as long as it keeps me attached to RAM Racing and Honda respectively,” said Guerrieri.

The Argentinian is currently placed sixth overall in the WTCR with one race left of the season.

“I’m really liking the series, there are a lot of battles and the level of the teams is great. The level of drivers is great as well and it will be even better next year,” said Guerrieri.
