Boutsen Ginion Racing confirm Ma Qing Hua’s return for Macau

As expected, Boutsen Ginion Racing has confirmed that Ma Qing Hua will return to the team for the final round of the WTCR season on the streets of Macau.

The 30-year-old joined the team for the rounds at Ningbo and Wuhan, scoring a best finish of seventh at the wheel of the Honda Civic Type R that had previously been raced by Benjamin Lessennes.

Lessennes himself had only joined the WTCR grid after Tiago Monteiro was ruled out due to the injuries he sustained in his testing accident in Barcelona last year.

Whilst Monteiro was able to return to action at Suzuka, the former F1 racer will sit out Macau on doctors advice – with Ma instead being brought back in to partner Tom Coronel for the season finale as reported last month.

“I am very happy to return to the WTCR and to race the Honda Civic again,” he said. “Boutsen Ginion Racing is a strong team and made me feel very welcome in the events I raced in China.

“Having been through that familiarisation period will help me get up-to-speed much more quickly at Macau, as will the fact that this is the first track at which I have prior experience. Together we’ve already finished in the top 10 so the aim is to have a strong weekend and continue the progress shown in Ningbo and Wuhan.”
