Rob Huff elated with seventh Macau pole position

Rob Huff’s secured his seventh pole position at Macau and is delighted to be well-placed to add to his win record tomorrow in Race 1, even before qualifying for Race 2 and 3 has taken place.

Huff battled back against a late improvement by Münnich Honda driver Esteban Guerrieri, improving on his final run to take pole by almost half a second, and setting another TCR lap record at the Guia circuit.

“At one point I was a bit concerned that Esteban might have taken it from me,” said Huff.

“We got a good lap on our first run and that set the bar, and then I had a a much better run on my second lap as I got a tow off Yvan (Muller) – and then my third and fourth runs were stopped by yellow flags.

“We knew we had time for one more run, but I was down in the first sector because I was completely on my own and didn’t have a tow, but the middle bit of Macau is where the time comes and I just managed to nail the second and last sectors. I want to say a huge thanks to the team for giving me such a wonderful car.”
