Facundo Ardusso moves closer to title with pole in Córdoba finale

Renault Sport driver Facundo Ardusso claimed his second consecutive pole position in the Super TC 2000 season finale weekend at Córdoba. The Argentinian was followed by Mariano Werner of Team Peugeot Total Argentina and Renault Sport’s Leonel Pernía.

Agustin Canapino claimed fourth position and is the sole title rival to Ardusso who only needs to finish sixth in the last race of the year no matter where Ardusso finishes.

Pole position meant two further points for Ardusso who heads the standings on 221 points while Canapino remains on 196 points.

Qualifying was split in to two groups with Renault driver Leonel Pernia claiming third position, just 0.068 seconds from pole position.

Former Volvo WTCC driver Néstor Girolami claimed fifth position for the factory Peugeot team, with Carlos Javier Merlo rounding off the top six for Renault Sport Argentina, 0.472 seconds from pole position.

The final race of 2018 starts at 12:00 local time tomorrow (16:00 CET).
