Niels Langeveld completes Audi Sport line-up in WTCR

TCR Germany championship front-runner Niels Langeveld has been named as the fourth Audi driver who will compete in the 2019 World Touring Car Cup.

The 30-year-old Dutch racer finished fifth in the German standings last year at the wheel of and Audi RS 3 LMS and will now step up to the world stage for the first time.

Langeveld will partner Frédéric Vervisch, who finished ninth in the standings last year, in the Comtoyou Racing line-up, run under the Comtoyou Team Audi Sport banner.

“We’ve decided to include a successful driver from our customer racing programme in the Audi Sport squad,” Chris Reinke, head of Audi Sport customer racing said.

“Niels Langeveld has performed consistently well in the ADAC TCR Germany over the last two years and he has impressed us.”

The line-up for the other Audi squad, WRT, remains unchanged, with Gordon Shedden alongside Jean-Karl Vernay.

The departure of sponsor Lukoil means the Belgian team will run under the Leopard Racing Team Audi Sport banner this season.
