Mehdi Bennani reprimanded for collision with Rob Huff

Mehdi Bennani has been reprimanded after the Moroccan driver made contact with Sébastien Loeb Racing Volkswagen team-mate Rob Huff at the start of Race 2 in Marrakech.

The two team-mates came together on the opening lap with Bennani’s car suffering terminal damage, while Huff dropped to the rear of the pack and went on to finish 22nd.

The weekend was a tough one for the Volkswagen team, with Huff finishing 12th and 15th in races one and three, while Mehdi Bennani finished 12th in the final race.

The team’s new drivers, Johan Kristoffersson and Benjamin Leuchter, scored no points as the Golf GTI TCR drivers all struggled for grip throughout the weekend.

Bennani’s penalty is a reprimand and two points on his racing licence.

The 35-year-old was also investigated for an incident with Comtoyou Racing’s Tom Coronel at the start of Race 1 yesterday, but this was declared a racing incident.
