Esteban Guerrieri leads the way in the second practice in Hungary
Münnich Motorsport’s Esteban Guerrieri was fastest in the final practice session of the weekend in Hungary, with the Honda driver just ahead of Comtoyou Racing Cupra driver Aurélien Panis, with Lynk & Co’s Yvan Muller third fastest.
The weather conditions were much cooler than Friday’s first practice session, with rain having doused the circuit overnight, but the track was generally dry throughout much of the session.
Times continued to improve as the slightly damp conditions improved throughout. Local hero Norbert Michelisz was the first driver under 1:55 in his BRC Racing Team Hyundai i30 N TCR, but the times ultimately tumbled with Aurélien Panis the first under 1:53 in his Cupra.
Guerrieri’s best lap came with just under ten minutes to go. The Argentinian was briefly demoted on the top of the time sheets by countryman and team-mate Néstor Girolami, but like many drivers, Girolami’s time was deleted after breaching the track limits at Turn 11.
Michelisz ended up fourth fastest in his Hyundai, ahead of Johan Kristoffersson, who was the fastest of the Volkswagens by some way in fifth for Sébastien Loeb Racing.
Girolami finished the session sixth, ahead of the KCMG Honda of Attila Tassi, with the WRT Audi of Jean-Karl Vernay, the Cyan Racing Lynk & Co 03 TCR of Yann Ehrlacher and the BRC Hyundai of Gabriele Tarquini completing the top ten.
Qualifying for the first race takes place at 11:45 CEST.
