Four drivers hit with penalties after Hungary Race 1
Nicky Catsburg, Mikel Azcona, Niels Langeveld and Benjamin Leuchter have all been given 30-second penalties following racing infringements during today’s first race at the Hungaroring.
Azcona, Catsburg and Langeveld were all handed 30-second penalties, in lieu of drive-through penalties, after they were found to have exceeded the track limits on multiple occasions during the race.
BRC Racing Team Hyundai driver Catsburg was deemed to have exceeded the track limits 11 times. After he was warned with a black and white flag, he was then given the penalty after going wide and gaining an advantage at Turn 4.
PWR Racing Cupra driver Azcona was stung for ten offences, while Comtoyou Racing Audi’s Niels Langeveld breached the track limits eight times.
Benjamin Leuchter, of Sébastien Loeb Racing, was given a five-second penalty for being out of position at the start.
Leuchter, Azcona, Catsburg, and Langeveld were classified in 17th, 18th, 20th and 22nd, already outside of the points, and now drop to 20th, 22nd, 23rd and 24th respectively.
