Tiago Monteiro to contest Nürburgring 24 Hours

Tiago Monteiro will face a busy weekend when the World Touring Car Cup heads for the Nürburgring later this month after confirming he will also contest the annual 24 Hour race.

The Portuguese driver, who is returning to the WTCR this season for a full campaign with the KCMG team, will form part of a four driver line-up in a Honda Civic Type R TCR being entered into the race by Team Honda ADAC Sachsen.

Monteiro will line-up alongside Markus Oestreich, Dominik Fugel and Cedrik Totz in what will be Honda’s first official participation in the iconic endurance race for ten years.

The former F1 racer will contest all three WTCR races on the Friday and Saturday of the Nürburgring event before switching his attention to the 24-hour race on Saturday and Sunday.

“I am delighted to be taking part in this legendary 24-hour-race for the first time,” he said. “The Nürburgring is one of the most challenging circuits in the world and I’d like to thank Honda Germany for the opportunity to be a part of it.”
