Cyan Racing drivers disappointed with Nürburgring performance

The Cyan Racing team had a weekend to forget at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, in stark contrast to their successful race meeting at Zandvoort last month, and were almost back to the Slovakiaring form in Germany.

Qualifying fifth on the grid for Race 1 with Thed Björk was the highlight for the team, but this was mostly due to track position in the wet qualifying session, with the first lap effectively the only one that counted due to a Code 60 deployment through most of the session.

Yann Ehrlacher would achieve the team’s best race result of the weekend with sixth in the race, while the four Lynk & Co 03 TCRs started from the back of the grid for both of Sunday’s races, with Thed Björk finishing 12th in Race 2, while three of the cars retired on the first part of the first lap in Race 3, leaving Yvan Muller as their only finisher in tenth.

“A really disappointing weekend and I lost a lot of valuable points,” said Björk.

“I bogged down in the first race, was stuck in the field in the second race and retired from the third due to broken steering rod. My focus is already now fully committed to the Vila Real race where we need to bounce back strongly.”

“This is a weekend to forget,” added Yvan Muller.

“Gaining ten places in the final race was good, but we had potential for more.”
