Hyundai stay heavy, Honda get heavier for Portugal

The four i30 N TCRs of BRC Racing Team will again carry the maximum compensation weight for next weekend at Vila Real, while the Honda Civic TCRs of Münnich Motorsport and KCMG will carry just 10kg less compensation weight than the South Korean cars.

The new calculation system comes into effect as of this round, with higher emphasis placed on the cars’ qualifying performance.

The Hyundai i30 N TCRs, which secured both pole positions in Slovakia, the first round which applies to this calculation, will still run with 60kg of weight onboard.

The Civic TCRs, which have been assessed to be a tenth off the pace on aggregate, following Esteban Guerrieri’s pole position lap at the Nürburgring where he was six seconds faster than his nearest rival, will carry 50kg.

The next heaviest cars will be the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCRs, with the German marque proving resurgent over the last two rounds, with Benjamin Leuchter securing the Sébastien Loeb Racing team’s first pole position of the season last weekend, and with Johan Kristoffersson setting the fastest racing lap of the weekend.

On 20kg each are the Cyan Racing Lynk & Co 03 TCRs, and the Audi RS 3 LMSs of WRT and Comtoyou Racing, while the Cupra TCRs and Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloces will carry just 10kg each.
