Andy Priaulx handed Race 2 pole following Girolami penalty

Andy Priaulx has been classified in the top ten following Néstor Girolami’s extraordinary double-penalty in China, which saw the Argentinian excluded from Q2, removed from Q3, and then given a five-place grid penalty.

With Girolami demoted from third to 11th in the Q2 classification, this has promoted Priaulx to tenth, and so means the Guernsey driver will start the upcoming second race from pole position in his Cyan Racing Lynk & Co 03 TCR.

Priaulx will start ahead of the BRC Hyundai of Norbert Michelisz, and the Lynk & Co of Thed Björk, which is likely to see team strategy at play, as Priaulx was already asked to hand over positions to both Björk and Ehrlacher in the first race yesterday.
