Nicky Catsburg penalised for incident with Andy Priaulx

Nicky Catsburg has been given a 30-second penalty for the incident with Andy Priaulx in the opening World Touring Car Cup race at Suzuka.

The Hyundai driver made contact with Priaulx while braking for Turn 1, sending the Lynk & Co driver into the barriers.

The stewards handed the Dutch driver a drive-through penalty that was replaced by a time penalty of 30 seconds, dropping him from 14th to 23rd, as well as 2 points to his license.

Priaulx meanwhile was fined €1000 for gesticulating to Catsburg after the incident and reprimanded for crossing the white line at the pit exit during the starting procedure.

The reprimand is the Brit’s third, meaning that he will be dropped ten positions on the grid for the second race at Suzuka.
