Baldi and Bánki claim Esports WTCR wins at Slovakiaring as Guerrieri fights for podium

Gergo Baldi and Bence Bánki claimed one victory each in the second Esports WTCR pre-season event at the virtual version of Slovakiaring, as Honda Racing driver Esteban Guerrieri showed strong form in both races and fought for a podium finish in the final race.

M1RA Esports driver Baldi, who won the opening race at the Hungaroring, won the first race ahead of Moritz Löhner and Adam Pinczes.

Guerrieri meanwhile crossed the line in ninth position as the best real-life WTCR driver, securing second on the reversed grid of race two.

Pole-sitter Martin Barna claimed the lead while Guerrieri dropped to third behind Bánki at the start of the second race.

Guerrieri, who finished second overall in the 2019 WTCR season, fought hard to keep third but dropped back to finish eleventh following contact with Tim Heinemann.

Bánki won the race ahead of Barna and Heinemann.

The remaining real-life WTCR drivers struggled in both races, with Norbert Michelisz as the second best of them in 18th position in the first race and 13th in the second.

The third round of the Esports WTCR pre-season takes place at the virtual version of Ningbo on May 4.
